Can someone check my figures for me. I was given a free £25 bet to use online.
I bet on Atalanta to win the football (soccer) tomorrow. £25 at 13/2, a total return £187.50 if they win.
I also want to lay the bet off (i.e. bet that Atalanta will LOSE tomorrow).
Betfair have odds of 7.4 for them to lose. So if I lay £21.52, and they lose, I will get £159.25 (but lose my win bet of £25, giving total of £134.25) My total liability is £159.25 though (I lose this amount if they win).
So, if they WIN: I earn £28 and if they LOSE I earn £159.25 (the bet was free).
Surely this is too good to be true, what am i missing? Sorry if that was confusing!
