Default Which is correct english and when is it used?

So, I have forgotten some things about the english language. Maybe I never knew, who knows? I always hated prepositions anyway.
I have struggled a bit with the following phrases. Google has hundreds of results for all of them. Can you tell me the correct ones and when they are used?

    On the forum?
    At the forum?
    In the forum?
    Other?

    and

    At a website?
    On a website?
    In a website?
    Other?

Answers from the british people will be preferred

The English language is always changing, and changing rapidly when it comes to the internet. In the second instance I would say that:

    On a website

is correct. In the first instance it depends what you mean by forum. If you mean online forum such as BandB, then I think that:

    On the forum

is correct, as in this case "forum" really means "website." This reason I prefer "on" is because while we may say, "I am on the web", we really mean, "my computer is on the web."

    Also, this may be helpful...

I wrote about a 10 paragraph reply to the question and deleted it. What you've said is the bottom line and the fact is that these terms--"website" (is it "web site" or "website", even that's barely been agreed upon) and "forum"--are so new that our cultures haven't had time yet to agree upon what is correct.

I say cultures because inevitably the UK English speakers will choose something contrary to the US English speakers.

Nah, they'll just all it a fourum! Besides, didn't the Americans invent the internet, so wouldn't our opinions be the correct ones? I suggest we call Al Gore on this one!

Al Gore may have invented it, but Senator Ted Stevens is a genius where describing the Internet is concerned.

Is it to late to change the title to its more correct wording:

"Which are correct english and when is it used?"

    Thanks.

In both cases, you can't go wrong with 'other'.

Rabid, You are hilarious my friend!

I would say, Al-Gore may have invented it, and Bill probably added the smut.

As a non-Brit, I vote for "on a forum" or "on a website". One really is not really on anything of course--but people really aren't 'on' drugs. Its not like you stand on the pills but it is convention to say they are "on" drugs or "on" this medication.

You certainly wouldn't be "at" the website but I guess that might work too. I also feel that I am "in" the forum too--because well here I am.

So you can do whatever you want. They really are all wrong and we probably need a new preposition for the web. I formally propose "oop". Example "I am oop the web". Or "I am oop the shaving forum".
