Homemade (Sort of) Aftershave

Samples of EDT from Floris proved way, way, WAY too potent for me to use at all. Still I really liked one of the fragrances. It occurred to me that No. 89 would make a good aftershave if diluted. It also occurred that vodka might make a good carrier for this scent because it is essentially water and alcohol and has little fragrance of its own. So I tried a little experiment--merely wetting the inside of a small bottle with the No. 89 from the tiny sample vial from Floris, then filling with vodka. It works.

This is a delightful aftershave for my purposes. There’s the bracing sting on newly shaved skin and a pleasant scent that dissipates within the hour. This simple concoction competes well in these regards with the only other aftershave that I use, Royall Lyme.

That little sample vial of No. 89 should easily last until this Floris product becomes available once again. Even then, for me, the smallest quantity of EDT should last forever, so highly diluted as an aftershave.

Good thinking outside the bowl.
I use the spritzer bottles also.
Thanks for the idea. I like a stronger scent, usually.
