  1. Default Pyment - an introduction

I began shaving with a DE razor a long time ago. It was an inexpensive butterfly type (the name Schick comes to mind). I quickly improved to avoid the blood and pain. Then I moved on to an injector, which is where I stayed for a long time. I still feel that gave some pretty nice shaves. I even tried wet shaving with an old brush I believe may be synthetic. I still have it. It says "House of Fuller" on the bottom. I moved on to electric and cartridge shaving. I have a tough beard and couldn't get a decent shave with either. I put up with it because I only shave 3 months out of the year.

I decided to go back to some kind of blade shaving and stumbled on Lee's Razors. After a little research, I purchased his HD package and upgraded to the Vulfix 2235s and some Trumper soap. BTW Lee was very gracious. I think that is not news to anyone here.

One shave convinced me of a few things: 1) I had made a pretty good choice and will need to let Lee know 2) If My fathers DE had been as good as the HD I would probably have stuck with it. (same for my first brush) 3) Shaving with a DE is like riding a bike. You never really forget how.(no nicks first time out and the best shave I had had in a long time.

I also decided I needed to get some kind of after shave balm. I also see I should have 2 brushes so it can be thoroughly dry for next use (at least my wife bought that). Therefor I bought a Kent BK12, some Kent soap in a dish, and some Erasmic soap from Auravita. (BTW the Kent brushes are on special right now and can be had for about $134 plus shipping).

    Can't Wait.

Well, that's me in a nutshell. Best regards to everyone!

    Dave

Judging by your intro, I guess you probably won't be coming here for a lot of advice.

Welcome to B&B. Looks like your well on your way, and as stated not in much need of advice. Before you know it you'll be attending the weekly AD meetings.

Actually I am sure there are several things I will have to ask.

Like: what the heck is a scuttle and how does it work?

Do soap users work up the leather in a separate vessel?

There will be more. This site is a great resource!

Hello Dave and welcome to our crew.
I for one whip my lather from soap in a bowl seperate from it's storage container. I really enjoy hot lather from a floating bowl....

    Hi Dave,

Welcome to the forums. I prefer to lather soap directly on my face. I used to use a separate vessel for whipping up lather, but I just preferred the feedback face lathering provided. With just about every question here you are bound to have the obligitory YMMV(Your Mileage May Vary), this is no different. I really recommend trying a variety of different methods to get the lather exactly where you like it.

    Happy Shaving!

Is this Pyment from the coffee co-ops?

If so, there's a bunch of home roasters here, too!

    If not, you're still welcome!
