    Hi;

EJ are great razors. The head is the same as the Merkur 3-piece razors except Jagger polishes and plates them better. The metal handles are longer than standard and are fairly heavy, and are balanced very well. The resin handles are not quite as heavy but are also balanced and easy to use. Top quality piece of shaving equipment.

    Thumbs up

+1 I have two of the Chatsworth lined razors,1 gold and the other chrome, great razors. There is some info on these razors in the forums, use the search feature on the top of the page.

The Chatsworth, either the lined or ivory handle, has become my 'go to' DE razor. The only other DE I use much other than a Chatsworth is a Slant. I've sold most of my other DEs. Well unless you count the President, the #16, and the HD Rocket. I just could not force myself to part with those three.

I got the EJ Georgian it is a great razor, the feel and balance perhaps due to the large handle is excellent, they are very pricey though.

    crankymoose,

I started a thread a while back asking some info about the EJ Georgian or lined EJ and never got 1 reply.

Since it seems you own the Georgian I would like to know if the big fat handle doesn't feel awkward.
My preference would go to the slimmer handle but since it seems to be some kind of plastic I'm afraid the slimmer EJ version might put to much weight on the head. Kind of like the Gillette knack. The Georgian appeals to me more because it looks as the weight might be better balanced because of the thicker and somewhat heavier handle. But the thicker handle scares me off. Any comments or suggestions?

I think the size, weight and feel of the Georgian handle balances it out prefectly, I believe a couple of the more senior mods have basically the same razor too as that's where I noticed it, there's was a very limited edition mod only version of them which has Badger and Blade inscribed on the handle instead of EJ, maybe one of them can chime in here too, as to how they like it.

The Georgian just seems feel very natural in my hand when shaving. As far as finish goes I have a 38c and Mergress and while they have similar heads you can see a big improvement around the edges, the sides and underneath, the blade gap on my EJ is perfect too. I got the gold plated version and it looks great too which is always a plus.

thanks to everyone for your help. i finally decided on the imitation light horn loxley along with the light horn med. silvertip. this will be the nicest razor and brush i have ordered. can't wait for them to get here. i was really surprised when i placed my order from the english shaving company. the final price after i placed my order was lower than what was innitially shown. still it is the most i have ever paid for a razor or brush. at leat my stimilus money is going to good use.

I have the Georgian model. As someone earlier observed, it has an upgraded Merkur head. I think it has an absoultely comfortable handle in all positions. I had been using this handle for years with a Gillette Sensor head and when I began using DE found this Jagger version that had the best of both worlds.

    Highly recommended.

I just received my Jagger Chatsworth lined model. Very impressive razor with about the same weight as the Merkur 38C. The shipping from the English Razor Co was very reasonable, about $8, and I received it in 5 days. Hard to beat that. Shaved with it this morning and its going to work out fine. I had some concerns the handle might be slippery but that's not going to be a problem. It seems like a lot of money for a razor but its something I can use everyday and no worse than the price of a nice brush.

    Michael,

can't wait for your review as I'm looking at the loxley or georgian but would like to know how the balance feels of the loxley as the handle looks lightweight compared to the head.

Looks like I'm a little late to this party, but I also have good things to say about the EJ razors. I have a Lined Chatsworth (Chrome) and an ivory Chatsworth. They are completely different in terms of balance (metal vs. plastic), but they both perform very well. They are two of my favorites.

Here's the Lined Chatsworth with the matching EJ stand and a Rooney Heritage Alibaba brush:

For comparison, here is the faux ivory Chatsworth:

Whichever one you choose, you can't go wrong, IMO.

the loxley handle is light in comparison to the head. for me it isn't an issue. i have been using my merkur classic for a while which is a bit of a lightweight. having a heavy head is enough for me. i got it in the mail sat. afternoon and have shaved with it 3 times so far. i know this is the razor forum, but i feel the need to add that the brush is unbelievable. i have used MWF M.B. lavender peppermint, and ToOBS St. James soaps so far. with each it did an awesome job.
