    Default First BBS, well, kindof

    Hello all

Third shave with a DE razor: BBS shave:D, almost. It's a partial BBS, as some place are BBS and others are just really really close. One nick only so far, but man, my face hurts, it's all dry and achy. I blame it on the cream (I use gillette can goo), wich, I think, leaves my face dry. I'm planning on buying proraso cream (green tube) with an omega boar brush ASAP to see the difference, but i'm convinced it's the cream. Anyone have ever shaved with gillette + DE?

Sounds like you're coming to the dark side :D You'll find that once you figure out how to make a good lather, you'll never think twice about that canned goo. Much smoother shaves. Also, you'll soon find the plethora of post shave goodies to try out. They really help bring back that moisture that shaving can make you lose.

I have a can of Gillette Barber Shop Clean foam that I use for days when I'm running late and want a real fast shave. If I use it with my Super Speed, the shave is ok, but I get the same drying effect you had. I can't even use the foam at all with my Merkur, it's just to uncomfortable. Too bad someone doesn't make that scent in a cream that can be used with a brush. Most days though it's Proraso or Gillette tube cream with either the s/s or Merkur 1904.

I Have a Merkur as well and I'm dying right now, my skin's so dry and it's been 4 hours since I shaved, so I guess it'll be sooner for the proraso and brush

Part of your problem may be your lather....
However, since this is only your third shave, your problem is more likely due to using too much pressure on the face. You are getting a bit of razor burn. Don't worry so much about getting a BBS shave, as not damaging yourself at this stage. I did some serious razor burn damage when I first started.

Its the cream, the air in the foam sucks your face dry. Proraso will help. Get the pre post shave cream as well, use it for AS only though as for a pre shave it sucks.
