Could someone shed some light on these shoes. Their website, johndoeshoes.com, makes them appear to be made in the Alden, fine British shoe tradition. If so, they are a real deal.

At $150 a pair and crafted in Mexico, you can probably assume they're not crafted like Alden or Church's or something. Here's a decent review where the guy does a good breakdown of their chukka boot:

Just some quick internet pedantry.. Alden is classic American New England all the way. No British there.
Since we are being pedantic, I think the OP was stating that the shoes were made in the tradition of Alden and the fine British shoe-making tradition.
But then again, I could be wrong.

Perhaps made in the Alden tradition, but certainly not made in that quality.
