Thanks to all the knowledge here I was able to attempt my first forays into DE shaving. All things considered, the shaves went well and I think I'm hooked.
I didn't end up going to any of the 3 T's because I just couldn't make it while they were open. I picked up some Sienna cream and after shave from Crabtree and Evelyn and have been using that.
My first shave went well. I didn't get any nicks and had zero irritation afterwards. I kept it simple: WTG, two passes. Unfortunately, it wasn't a great shave. It was passable; it wasn't any worse than I would have received from my Fusion with a quick, single pass shave.
Today I decided to be a little more adventurous and added an XTG and a bit of an ATG in one spot. I got a few nicks, and the alum stung more but I got a closer shave. Even with the nicks and the stinging, I didn't end up with red skin or bumps so that's an improvement.
I have to say I really enjoy shaving this way.
