As many of you will know, Rememberance Day is 11/11 in UK and the Commonwealth, and the symbol of rememberance is the poppy. Someone sent me a link to the Poppy Shop and I had a browse, as you do, and saw these. They are made from brass, reclaimed from original WW1 shell fuzes, recovered from the battlefields of France and Flanders. I thought that they were pretty cool, and a great history given the fact that this year is the Centenary. Not cheap, but the profits go to the Royal British Legion to help servicemen and women who need social, financial or emotional support so they had to be acquired.
And they arrived after only 5 days. And they are quite lovely.
