shavette

I was wondering who all makes shavette style razors. I have a nice stash of de blades. So a shavette seemed like a natural fit. Just wondered all the options. Even though they are all basically the same. Thanks

This thread is a good intro to the kinds of shavettes available. The most well-known two are Dovo and Parker.

Different brands give you different balance, size , materials, half vs full DE, blade holder style, etc

Do they make one that's like the Japanese style. Other than the feather?.r.

CJB is a feather knockoff

For the price you can't beat the Parkers.

I got a couple of extra Vantas when I ordered mine. I've got a Parker as well. I think they're still on the BST. The Parker was my first and I liked it OK but agree with the folks who say that it feels kind of cheap. The Vantas are similar, but feel a bit more solid. I think I like the one that holds a whole blade better. My favorite is the Weck Sextoblade though, with a NOS Weck Carbon Steel blade.

I use a parker with derby half blades. As close as it gets, effortlessly. One wtg pass is all you need. Sometimes I do a second pass with zero weight and an aggressive angle but resistance is non existent.
And taking cost into account, I can't recommend enough.
You won't be disappointed.
