I think this is not stressed enough. Change your blades often! Max. every 3 shaves.

Thank you for the advice, I usually go 4 shaves as long as I'm using my Generic Israelis, which have turned out to be a really great blade!

GIllette platinum and wilkinson sword are my choice
Depending on the blade, I can usually get 4 quality shaves. On occasion I can get a fifth, but that's only if I haven't been skipping days and letting my stubble grow out too much. But I don't push for that usually.

I allow myself a couple hundred dollars a year for shaving and the blades only cost $20 for 200 which last about a year or more. For that kind of money I just can't see risking even one single bad stroke. Change blades at least every other shave.
Good advice except for feathers- I get about a week from one. As always YMMV...
