    Exclamation Need a new shampoo

After using the Sam's club economy sized bottle of Pert for years, I'm looking for something a little nicer, but don't want to go overboard.

I've been thinking about the T&H offerings (Frequent Use and Thickening -thanks to my thinning hair) or maybe even Musgo Real's offering, as I like the aftershave so much and see that it has the same scent.

    Any suggestions?

I converted to American crew and now sing praise to it as do many others on this website. It's made by revlon with organic ingredients. They have a hair thickening shampoo. Check americancrew.com and amazon.com to purchase.

I've been using Aveda's "Shampure" shampoo for about a year now, and it is really great stuff. It runs about $25 for a liter, so it isn't the cheapest out there, but you don't need much so it last awhile (about 6 months, maybe more). Plus, if you order from the Aveda website they will send you pump tops so you can control how much you use. The Shampure conditioner is also great.

L'Occitane has some very nice shampoos. If you have a store near you, you can get some free samples before deciding. For that matter, you can do the same on the web now that I think about it. Their stuff is not the cheapest but it goes a really, really long way. I put about a nickel size puddle in my palm and that provides all the lather and suds I need for a great shampoo.

Kiehl's All Sport, it's like no other especially if you wash every day.

I just started using the MiN lineup, yea it's a DHT eliminating wash/shampoo/conditioner, yea I'm only 20 and I'm losing my hair, yea.. It sucks.. So far I feel that my hair is thicker and looks much better tho. Its expensive at $60 for 8oz bottles of each wash/shampoo/conditioner. I love it so far tho.

DHT is a chemical known to thin hair and eventually stop hair growth. (FYI)

AT $60 a month it is the same price of Avodart which will actually stop all production of DHT. Talk to a dermatologist about it. You could get away with taking it less often than everyday as the halflife is very long

Nice but can you shave with it?

I did a little research on Avodart and found it to be a little extreme. I've been using the MiN for a week I like the results so far, time will tell. I've used it daily and have bairly even made a dent in the bottles, I think / hope it will last at least 2-3 months.

Since I keep my hair fairly short, I sort of see expensive, quality shampoos as a bit of a waste of money, as there's not enough hair there for people to see a real difference. I tend to go for a regular Head & Shoulders shampoo, and the active ingredient in it (memory fails ... ) is supposed to be good for promoting blood flow and slowing the advance of Male Pattern Baldness ....
Be there or be square. Only I can do both!
I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.

That's my predicament. I use a #3 guard on my head every few weeks, so spending a lot on what little hair I have left isn't too high on my priority list.

Maybe I'll stick with the Pert and get the T&H Thickening shampoo for occasional use.

The best shampoo ive used is Kiehls Protein concentrate shampoo. The Truefitt and Hill line really wasnt that good at all. I used the Thickening shampoo and it did nothing of the sort. The Kiehls shampoo is about $13 for a bottle but you only use a dime size for short hair, its super concentrated and works great.

My wife uses Shampure and so she gets a free 8 ounce bottle of their personal line that you can get various scents added to. Anyway, I use that and get the balancing scent. Most manly one they have. I have very short hair, it is thinning and MIn did not work for me, but it may have stopped further loss. I was on propecia and discontinued that. So I get something cheap since an 8 ounce bottle lasts me about 10 months.

I think the best stuff you can find locally is Nexus Therappe. I used this(with Humectress conditioner)back when my hair was long and I could not believe the difference it made.

I use Althaea soaps and shampoo loafs. Melanie is a sweetheart and her products are top notch. The scents are fantastic, The Bay Rum and Green Irish Tweed are two of my favs. I buy the loafs. The shampoo one lasts for over a year and the soap loaf lasts 8+months of daily use.
