What's new

newbie with palmolive question

So i cant seem to find anywhere that has the palmolive classic stick to try. But i noticed, while at the dollar store, that they sell bars of palmolive classic bar soap. I bought a 3 pack and started using it for hand washing. I noticed its very slick!!!
My question is, judging by ingredients, it seems very close to the shave stick.
Has anyone tried to mill and press the bar soap and use as a shave soap?
Im new so i dont was to massacre my face if its a bad idea lol.
And the color is spot on with what ive seen from the soap stick.
Thanks.

Nope, with the sticks being available everywhere in Europe, I've never tried the bar soap for shaving. I can imagine that it would work okay though. Not great, but workable ... the bar soap produces a quite creamy "lather" indeed.

Rubbing the Palmolive shaving stick across your moistened beard you will notice very little at first, but when you put the properly moistened brush to it a profuse lather will start building.

You just can't reproduce that with regular Palmolive soap.

I've tried it with Valobra bar soap before, and - while it can be done - the results fall short of the lather you get from a proper shaving stick.

Hand soap may be close, but is not what you want for shaving. Give it a try if you want, you really can't harm anything.

I think you can buy it at West Coast and I know you can buy it on eBay.
