John Heiffor Made for the Army

So here is my first try at a straight razor Restoration.

I recently picked up a John Heiffor in an antique store and i plan on bring it back to like and offer it as a gift to my brother.

First things first it looks like there is not much information about the brand. I tried to date it but i can only assume WWII era. Do you guys agree?

The blade has some rust hopefully not too deep and the scale was broken.
I removed the scale and here it is.

Do you think it's restorable at home even with that honing wear?
I wont bring it to a perfect stat but i want it to look good.

Can't help with any dating, but I have to say that that is one lovely hunk'o'steel you have there!

A quick update this morning.

I quick brushed and sanded (400 is all i had) the blade.

In the other side i went a step further and i used some black emery compound.

Should i go back to sanding and remove mire of the pitting or should i just polish like a mad man and leave some character to it?
