Thread: Strop Question

  1. Default Strop Question

If I was to buy the strop listed below, what else would I need to prepare it, and how would I go about doing so?

Listing products from classicshaving would be fanstastic, as im putting in an order through them anyways.

    Thanks guys!

You don't need to do anything. Just use it as is. They used to talk about using a roling pin or a bottle to break it in but its not necessary. You should check out Tony Miller's site he has about the best strops out there.

I have, but i've been waiting, and everytime I visit his site, its down for one reason or another. I need something soon, as the strop I bought with my kit doesnt appear to be in great shape.

I do close every Sunday, I was closed for Easter and I did close today but will be back up tomorrow evening.

Typically I am closed one or two days a week to balance packing / shipping days with manufacturing days.

Don't forget that many of our strops are sold at both John Crowley's Shavingshop and Jim Ayars' Vintagebladesllc if we happen to be closed.

    Steve,
I'm actually the same way. If I want something I want it todayand will go to crazy lengths to get it.

Sorry though that my business does not run the same way :) I have other obligations and projects so must limit manufacturing days with packing and shipping days or else get overun. If this were my full time activity I'd be operating much more agressively and carrying a wide array of products. For now I simply enjoy working with leather at my own pace.

Cant say I blame you, and from what I've heard, you're enjoyment definately shows in your work :).

My opinion is to get the TM Starter strop. It will be about $39 delivered to your door.

The leather quality will blow your mind! It is really very nice.

I tried going another route, regretted it, sent it back, and got the TM Starter. It is worth the minor wait you may have to endure!

Simply put, you can't get a better strop than one made by Tony (at any price point) - full stop.

Tony's strops are the only ones I can recommend to people asking for a strop recommendation.
