Open Comb before and after w/repair/disassembly

While the other parts soaked again, I had to repair these crooked teeth. In the last two photos, you can see that I straightened the teeth as much as I dared. There is a fine line between confidence and total failure when straightening these teeth. I understand that they break easily. I used wood blocks to form them back to their closest original position. I'm afraid using pliers would be too easy to snap one off.

This actually is a rebirth for Roopesh's razor.

I'm having an almost deja vu feeling with this - it seems so very similar to the Katrina razor.

Here's the razor after I cleaned and polished everything up:

And final reassembly. The razors functionality has been fully restored. There is no axial play in the TTO knob, the T bar is tight and secure, the doors close nice and tight with a blade installed, and the teeth are all intact. I cleaned the threads both inside and out, this should be a beautiful razor once Chris Evatt gets done with it! Here we go, Roopesh:

Next up is our very own tonich! He sent me a No. 21 for some TLC prior to replating. There were some mechanical discrepancies with the razor that I have since repaired. Here are the before photos:

:thumbup1:
Was only one door bent or were both of them?

I was able to figure about this one (on the picture bellow), but was not sure for the other one.

Yeah, the one door was perfectly parallel with the safety bar but the other one was tweaked causing that gap in the doors upon closure.

Captain Murphy, now that you've worked on Fatboys, Toggles, and now Aristocrats, what's your opinion of them mechanically? Which do you prefer?

More importantly, which would you make, once you inevitably start making your own razors? :p

 wait, I've never worked on toggles...I'd like to but they don't seem worth the risk, even more than the bottom dials. I guess I am partial to the early model Fatboys with the threaded retainer caps.

As far as making my own razor, I actually have something in the works right now for an open comb Fatboy but it's a very slow, low-priority project. That's as close as I'll ever come to making my own razor:tongue_sm
