Restored Lucite Ever-Ready 500N

Got this one a few days ago, i've been wanting a lucite brush for a long time now. It was so cheap i couldn't pass on it.





it wasn't that difficult to take the nylon knot out. I had an extra 24mm TGN silvertip, and that's what i did. I set it pretty deep, to give it good backbone.



The lettering, while noticable. The grooves were not that deep, so i gave it a couple paint passes (sorry for the crappy picture).

i always let the knot sit for a few days after i set it.

Finally used it today. It has plenty of backbone and it bloomed out quite nice.

Did you have to repaint the black after removing the old knot? I've lusted after a clear handle but have been afraid of how to deal with the painted area.

Yes sir, i had to repaint it. After drilling out the knot, i could see the lines the forstnet bit left on the inside walls. I used testors model paint on it.

You can mix a drop or two of Testors black in with the epoxy.
