Question about knot fitting

I'm sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere but I am about to restore my brushes and I need to know what size hole a 20mm knot should go in. Should the base of the knot be a tight fit in the handle or does it need a gap for the epoxy to go around the side of the knot? I already have my badger knots and one handle cleaned out and I'm getting some epoxy this weekend so any help will be appreciated.

The excessive glue on the side of the handle will rise up and overflow,be aware
Put glue in the base of the knot or the top of the handle,as you push the knot in twist him a little bit
This will push (if there is) excessive glue to rise up and cover some surface of the sides.
