What's new

From the wild!

What do I have? It looks similar to the gems I see on here, but it's a treet brand? I've seen the blades but never a razor. Which gem would I'd most likely shave like? I only have a OCMM and a clog pruf. Thanks in advance! $ImageUploadedByTapatalk1409959138.376866.jpg$ImageUploadedByTapatalk1409959153.941986.jpg$ImageUploadedByTapatalk1409959164.744377.jpg$ImageUploadedByTapatalk1409959173.708999.jpg

It looks like the answer to, "What do you get when you cross a Gem Junior 1912 with a Micromatic Clog-Pruf?"

From Waits:

"Treet

Treet Safety Razor Corp., 56 Earl St., Newark,
New Jersey. TM first used 1 Nov 1927. TM
filed 3 Dec 1927. Circa late 1920s to 1948.

Treet Safety Razor Corp., 77 Myrtle Ave., Brooklyn 1, New
York. Single edge Gem types with large plastic handle in
various colors. Standard single-edge rib-back blade with end
notches and center slot, thick tapered plastic handle, very
similar to c. 1948 Gem Junior. Back of head marked Treet.
Later sold double edge Gillette-type with comb guard. On
October 1, 1948 the Treet Safety Razor Corp. merged with
the American Safety Razor Corp., 315 Jay St., Brooklyn,
New York."

Nice score!

After only one shave I can tell you it requires a different angle than my Gem 1912. Once I got that down it shaved pretty good, it didn't make as much noise as my Gem, must be the plastic handle. It will take some getting used to before I can really tell much about it, it seems to me every SE razor is a little different and takes a few shaves to get to know it. The fat handle is really comfortable and I would say that is it's best feature.
