Do the G-types open for cleaning like the E? It looks like it should, but there's a small tang in the center of the spring. It doesn't seem to open on either of my Gs.

No. Don't try to open it. Not all E types open either; The E1 & E2 can be opened.

When it's not broke, don't try to fix it.
Besides, the blade chamber gets "cleaned" every time you inject a new blade in.

I noticed the spring on mine too, and was tempted to rotate and open it, but I resisted.
