Barbershop Shaving Brush

Some like a short handle on their DE razor and some prefer a longer handle. I'm interested in hearing about the longer handle on a shave brush. I know it's a preference thing and I probably need to use one to understand the difference properly. But for those who use one, how is it? Or, how different is it?

I found the long handle brushes a joy to use. Especially when building lather in a mug. This style of brushes is the only type you will find in the old Sears catalogs.

Although I prefer face lathering with a shorter brush, there is a truly authentic feeling when using one.
