    Default six blades.....

So I was walking around in Kmart today when I noticed a "Torque" razor on the racks with big "SIX BLADES" lettering. I figured it was a copy of the 5+1 Fusion since it had the same color scheme and all. However, upon looking closer, it actually had all six blades in a row. That's right, six blades of face ripping steel in a row. We usually joke about how they always just keep adding another blade but it's actually true.......

I think a variation of Moore's Law should apply to razors, except we could call it Chip's law.

"The number of blades on razors is growing geometrically, doubling approximately every ten years."

Current trends indicate that by the time I have kids and they're on their way to college, they'll probably have something with twelve blades that's too big to fit on their face.

Back in 2000 SNL did a fake commercial with Will Ferrell and after doing some more research I found out it was called Platinum Mach 14 . Why have 3 blades when you can have 14. I searched youTube and Google looking for the video but I cant seem to find it anywhere. Its a good laugh. Hopefully someone else is able to track it down.

I'm still waiting for the little lawnmower Bugs Bunny used on Elmer Fudd!
Actually, maybe that scene should be mentioned in the "shaving in movies" thread, since Bugs does wield a straight at one point...

I'm just surprised this didn't' get more fan fare. (I'm wondering if there are patent issues)

The only Torq razors I could find on K-Marts website were electric.

I think Mr. Barnum's Law covers this nicely. Except the birth rate seems to be increasing faster than the blade count.

I wonder if in 20 years or so they will be selling cartridge razors with 10+ blades?

The "Torque" razor... I presume it's named that because it twists the hairs off your face.

Wasn't there a SNL skit back in the '70s parodying the idea of a 3-blade razor? Seems like I read something about SNL (or somebody) doing it when twin blade razors came out.

Are those "blades" actually made of steel? I thought they were aluminum foil.

I think Feather stopped at 3 blades:

The K-Mart razor is probably made by Dorco.
