Default I Have Joined The Ranks

I recently decided to make the plunge into wetshaving after getting absolutely fed up paying $10 a month for Schick Quattro blades and filling landfills with more damn plastic. After research, I jumped in and bought a Merkur HD Slant (yes, a bit aggressive but I've never been the kind to go mild) with Merkur blades. The first several days were kind of rough and co-workers wondered if I was in a knifefight. But my male co-workers did look on with a combination of awe and questioning when I told them I was breaking in a DE. I'm into week 2 with the razor and getting the hang of it. Far less blood is being shed these days. Slow and steady wins the race. I'm loving the Proraso cream and it might be the best shaving cream I have ever used, especially with the cooling effect you get when you finish with a cold rinse. I happen to be a shower shaver (and I have a good mirror). Does anyone find this to be better for the face than shaving at the sink and not having the benefit of steam? I look forward to participating and learning.

Welcome to B&B. That's a brave move on your part to buy a slant as your first DE but i see you are doing well, much better and a faster learner than when i started. Kudos.

    Welcome to B&B!

You definitely jumped in with both feet by purchasing the Slant right from the beginning. As you have learned, slow and steady is the best way to go about it.

We have many members who shave in the shower or @ the sink. The main key is to make sure that the hairs of yoiur beard are fully hydrated and your face is prepped for the shave.

Make sure to check out the stickys in under the Shave Clinic and Newbie Check In area-loads of info awaits you.

BTW, RESISTANCE IS FUTILE! you will be assimilated!
