    Question Dorco?

    Hey guys,

I just tried out a Dorco blade today. I was not impressed at all... so far it was the worst blades I've tried. My question is... maybe did i just get a bad blade out of the ones I picked? I have never had as much irritation in my life... and the shave was not close at all. I ask this because I am literally scared to try using this blade again because it was such a bad experience. I looked up the review of the blade in the review section, and it seems that it is a decent blade for other people. I just dunno what to do? I'm usin' a Murker HD. SO far I've tried Murker / Durby blades, and now the Dorco. The Murkers were not that great or me either but the Durby blades were like butter smooth.

I tried a Dorco for the first time yesterday and i think its a good blade. Im using it in a 1950 Superspeed and from what ive learned from here, You cant judge a book by its...er...different blades react differently in different razors.

Dorcos either work for you or they don't. For me they are 1 shave only and then tossed. try another and see how it works-if you get the same results, then you know for sure.

I get mediocre shaves with them also. Surprisingly out of the sampler pack that I purchased, the Israeli blades have been my best shave over the Derbys and Feathers.

+1. My first Dorco wasn't a great experience, either. Seemed kind of blunt to me. Now Dorco and Derby are my favourite blades. It seems like Derby are probably the ones for you, but it doesn't hurt to try as many as you can.
    All the best,

I like them. They're generally very gentle, and pretty consistent (I use them in a Slim or a Superspeed). But I do get a bad one very occasionally. If the first shave with one isn't comfortable, I'll throw it out.

Dorcos do an acceptable job for me, provided I do a good job of pre-shave prep. I've tried most every blade out there except Feathers, and they all pull if I don't prep. Dorcos are a mild, forgiving blade. It may well be that your beard is too tough for them to cut. Perhaps a sharper blade will be better for you.

I get decent but not very close shaves with Dorcos. I normally go two days with an occasional third day with the blades. Crystals, Derbys and Feathers are better for me but I still keep them in the rotation. Who knows maybe one day I will get them to work for me?

Dorcos have been pretty good for me, especially in my Krona, probably my best experience with the Dorco blade, as well as my best experience with the Krona!
but, I may have also just put an exceptional blade in it and decent ones in my Tech, 38C, and ladies gillette....so definately YMMV, so I'd say give 2 more a try, just in case you pick 2 bad 'uns in a row :)
I also think it's worth mentioning that my results seem to say that Dorcos work better for me in a lighter razor, because my results with the 38C were okay, but great in my Tech and Krona, maybe they're so gentle that heavier razors cause them to irritate?

Yeah... thanks for the replies... I think either I just got a bad one... or that they are not sharp enough... I'm gunna try my Crystal blade next... then go back to Dorco... I'll give it some time and see... maybe htye also will work better when I get a new razor (at some point)

I would also agree that Dorcos, while pretty forgiving, seemed pretty dull...
