Numbers?

Hello, all.

I wasn't sure if I should have posted this under " safety razors" or not, but I decided to go with general talk. I was just wondering what do the numbers on some blades mean? I'm new to DE shaving. I noticed that the Astra blades that I'm using have the numbers 1-4 on each corner. I also noticed that the Merkur 34C has the same numbers on the underside of the head. Do these numbers serve a purpose? Any feedback is well appreciated.

The numbers on the blade are used by the manufacturer for quality control purposes. They have no influence or instructional value regarding the proper use of the blade.

Goth mathematicians only use numbers 1-4
by the time they get to 5, they don't care anymore.
