Thanks for the tip. In my years of shaving I haven't tried glycerin as prep. For today's shave I took a shower as prep but it didn't seem to change anything. I normally don't use any prep other than face lathering and get excellent tug free shaves out of my SEs- on the chin too. The exception being while using carbon steel blades. Now, I've heard that carbon steel can be polarizing but I'm not sure about getting a stainless steel straight because I imagine the coating that makes stainless blades so smooth will not be therefram, just a couple suggestions, perhaps spend more time prepping the chin and neck. I use a bar of glycerin face soap and smear it heavily over the stubble, then massage and lather it well, rinse partly, and proceed from there to lather with shave soap. even if I bowl lather, I will also spend extra time face lathering with the shave soap. Also, hydrate your shave lather more, with a spoonful or so of hot water into the brush, from time to time as you lather and as you shave.
