    Default Rainforests. Panama!

The last couple years I have been backpacking around Central and South America for a month or so at a time. I am very into amphibian biology and natural history but I really enjoy tropical natural history in general. This has become a huge passion for me and a new lifestyle/hobby I hope to continue to do the rest of my life. I will post more pictures from Costa Rica and Peru soon.

Fascinating pictures! I've never visited a jungle ecosystem but I'd sure like to.

Those frogs, are they the ones you can lick and go on a trip?

My son has his PhD in Evolutionary Biology and specializes in Mites. He goes to some amazing places, usually in conjunction with a team of mammalogists, ornithologists, herpetologists, etc. As this group traps specimens, my son then gathers the mites which are very specific to a particular host. Frankly, he is living my dream.

I admire my son, as well as you Bullfrog, in doing what you are doing.

At age 61, I may be joining my son as his "Field Assistant" in Costa Rica. There is much biological research that goes on there as well as established research stations. He said, "Dad, Costa Rica would be perfect as you could at least sleep in a wooden bunk in some rustic cabins and get a shower every couple of days. I think it was his kind way of saying that I wasn't quite ready for sleeping in the ooze along the Amazon.

    Good luck in your ventures.

Great shots. I'm a biologist as well. I would love to get out into the rainforest to trek around and take some pictures.
