New vintage clothing brush

I picked up a nice old bakelite Fuller clothing brush a couple of days ago. It's in great shape, but its got kind of a funk to it from sitting in a drawer or something for a few decades. Any advice on how best to freshen up the bristles?

can you wash it? warm water and dish soap typically removes funk from shaving brushes.

spray it with Fabreze maybe?
