What's new

Did you correspond today?

I wrote a letter to my Aunt and enclosed a copy of the eulogy that I wrote for my Dad,(her brother). I have been putting this off since April 25th as I didn't have the guts to re-read the eulogy... Following the posts in The Nib and purchasing my first fountain pen(s)(+8) helped get me over the hump on the writing of this letter and I can't think of a better time to have finally written my first FP letter, nor a better person to write about.

I'm glad that this forum could help you in such a time, even if it's just in a very small way. I'm sorry for your loss.

I wrote a letter to my grandfather. His wife (my grandmother) passed away about 18 months ago now. Though he lives with my aunt, he must spend a lot of time by himself while she's at work. I hope the letter brightens up his day a little bit, even though it's not about anything particularly special.

Wrote a follow up/thank you letter to a prospective customer. I typically wouldn't be critical of my own handwriting but since I got a fountain pen and I'm trying to improve my penmanship, I was never really comfortable with it's appearance. I'm sure it was fine but the pursuit of perfection leaves me unsettled.

I sent a thank you letter. In addition I sent my first letter to a fellow in the smail mail thread. Fountain pens are more fun than I thought. I even acquired some decent Crane's paper to write them on. The paper is as fun as the pen. The whole business feels like pornography for the fingers because high quality materials are so delicious to the senses.

Another follow-up postcard out in the mail; this one is a "sorry I haven't got to your letter yet because it's awesome" one.

One letter to my sister, and another short one that was my first contribution to the snail mail exchange. I've been putting it off waiting for an order from Goulet Pen Co. which arrived today. Loving Noodler's Red Black out of a fine nib Metropolitan.

Today, I sent a thank you note, a short chatty/newsy note to a neighbor that moved away, and a letter of introduction to a gentleman from the snail mail thread. It was a banner day. I must mention again how much I love the Sheaffer 100 that was generously PIFed to me by mattdenicola. It is my first fountain pen and it has made correspondence a joy.

Yesterday I wrote a thank you to some neighbors on a Crane Ecruwhite Kid finish card with a Waterman's 100 pen and in Pelican Royal Blue ink that I was a pleasure and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

The neighbors hosted a book signing for another neighbor, an 83 year old veteran of the Boston police who wrote & self published a book about his 40+ year career that was a class act for them to do and I wanted them to know how much we appreciated it.

Are those all airmail? I just read how much it costs to send a letter or a postcard ex-Australia! :scared:

With the exception of 2, yes....

On the positive side, they are Christmas stamps, so by writing "card only" on the envelope, I save 20c on each one compared to normal postage.

With what Australia Post charges to send, every little bit I don't have to pay them is better for me.

I guess I have no reason to complain about US$1.15 for an international postcard or a one-ounce (28g) letter.
