cleaning and polishing a Parker 51 'Special'

Good suggestions on cleaning and polishing the barrel and cap? The engraved names is particularly filthy.

The 51 specials had a Lustroloy cap, which I believe is nothing but stainless steel- any cleaner for stainless steel should do the trick (any pros out there, correct me if I am wrong). Not sure what to use on the body.

I use simichrome polish

Simichrome or MAAS polish should work well on both the cap and the body. I'd be gentle, though. The polishes are mildly abrasive and you could end up turning a brushed steel cap into a polished steel cap. On the body, be careful of polishing too hard over any engravings. If you need to really work hard to remove scratches, you may want to mask off any engravings with a sliver of tape.
