Does Shaving Soap have a shelf life?

For some well packaged triple milled soaps - Decades

In some cases the soap will even retain is scent after all those years.

I recently picked up some Old Spice shaving soap that I think was discontinued back in 1992 -- it produced lots of thick lather and smelled great.

Which reminds me -- has anyone done a review of Old Spice shaving soap?

I am 98.7462 % sure that they do not...in terms of efficacy (and assuming they haven't been exposed to harsh conditions). I have heard that some soaps lose their scnet after a while...but that's just what I've heard.

I lathered up a cake of pashana soap that was at minimum 30 years old. The scent was almost 100% gone, but it lathered up just fine. I ended up grating it and mixing it with 3/1 with a really fragrant bath bar. I still keep it in my rotation. So, to answer the question, 30+ years.

Here's a question, do glycerin-based soaps (like Mama Bear soaps) differ in their shelf life than other soaps?

A good soap will probably be usable long after the shelf it's on falls down. There probably won't be much scent left though.
