Is something wrong with my Super Speed?

Hey guys,

While shaving with my SS Flare Tip this morning (great shave!) I notices that it sounded like something was loose inside.
Even with the doors tightened down hard with the blade locked in place, I would hear a little rattle when shaking the razor. I checked my Slim (my only other TTO) and it doesn't do it.

My SS works just fine. I as I said before, I got a great shave, but should I be worried? Is this a sign of trouble (falling apart) in the future?

Those rattle... They are held together with a bent wire. Don't worry.

Mine make a similar sound.
I guess it is normal as mine was a NOS.

I love this razor.

I THINK you can disassemble those and may be able to tighten it up. Maybe someone else can add to that.

Before 1958 they are quiet, from 58 on they rattle due to design changes.

I just checked my M1 black handled SS that I bought new in 1967. It doesn't rattle.

Some do, some don't. As others have mentioned it's nothing to worry about.

My '57 doesn't have the rattle, my '75 black handle does -- both consistently give great, comfortable shaves.

After Gillette changed from the screw retainer to the crimped clip (1958-9?) some Super Speed were known to rattle. No big deal.

I have 3 black handles that were NOS and they all rattle.
