salicylic acid plus aftershave?

I use a salicylic acid astringent for acne. It does contain alcohol. Should I put it on before or after my aftershave lotion?

It definitely feels like it doesn't get down to my pores if I put it on after lotion, so I'd like to hear some professional advice.

Before for the best efficacy, but it won't help much as an aftershave. I find such things to be too harsh for me actually.

Although I don;t have acne, I find using a regular aftershave(not balm or lotion,) and then finishing with a Beta Hydroxy lotion to moisturize to be great for the face and great for getting rid of blackheads.

Beta Hydroxy sounds fancy, but ti is simply salicylic acid. There are many products that contain this, but the best I have found is Paula's Choice.
