What's new

Kamisori

I was just curious, what kind of straight razors does everyone use? I was given a "Kamisori of Solingen" for X-Mas, and I love it!!

I got at least 1 of each of the following
Dovo
TI
Le Grelot
Filarmonica
Shumate
JA Henckels
and a restored Wade and Butcher on its way from Floppyshoes

Wapienica with stainless steel scales (scales are a bit heavy but still a nice razor, my learner)
Dovo with faux mother of pearl scales, carbon steel (day to day razor)
Dovo stainless steel shavette (for travel)
Kobar with faux tortoiseshell scales I bought at a flea market (haven't used it because I can't hone it - think it's got a frown)

In no particular order:

Thiers-Issard
Henckels Friodur
Revisor
Mappin and Webb (one wedge, one hollow ground. both recent acquisitions, awesome shavers )
Filarmonica
Boker

Wanted:
Eric Anton Berg
C-Mon
Engels

Kama Extra
Edwin Blyde & Co, Sheff.
Boker King Cutter (x2)
Boker Diamond
Boker Clean Shaver (needs scales)
Wade, Witherspoon, and Robotham, Sheff.
The Cutting Fool - Solingen
Genco Master Cutler
Spike - Union Cutlery
Gotta Hamburg Ring
Bengall. Sheff.

The Bengall and the Gotta are mementos of SWMBO's and my recent trip to New Zealand and so are the most highly prized items in my collection.

The best shaver, and the ugliest razor, in the collection is the Wade:
It looks like a hatchet but shaves like a dream.

Best Regards

Graham

5/8 + 7/8 Henckels
11/16 Heljestrand
5/8 TI
7/8 Robert Williams Frameback

I have a few others that need work and a trip to a honemeister so those listed above are the ones I'm currently using.

I have too many to list at over 90 razors but the highlights are numerous Double Ducks, about 10 TI's, 4 Dovo's, a few customs and all the well known vintage brands.

Hmmm, I'm sure I'll miss a few...

2 Wade & Butchers - one a chopper
Henckels Friodur
Wusthof
Le Grelot
4 Wapis
dubl duck
Weyersberg

I've got a Wostenholm chopper waiting for some TLC at the moment.

I think that's all of them.

I have 60+.

My favorites of production razors would be the Taylors, Filarmonica, PUMA, and a couple of J. A. Torreys. Sentimentally I have a Baltzly and a W. A. Buck that belonged to my 2 grandfathers. They are both exceptional shavers but really, really hone worn.

I have one of each of these and a few doubles:

Wade and Butcher
Keibitz
Dovo
Thiers Issard
Iwasaki
Tosuke
Dubl Duck
Joseph Rogers
Greaves
Kama
Filarmonica

Many more have passed through my hands, these are the ones I've kept.

Not too many (yet)

Genco "fluidsteel"
Robeson "Suredge"
M.Jung "No.30"
Boker "Our Own"
Wostenholm & Sons celebrated Ixl (sic)
R.W.-G solingen no name
Sears Sta-Sharp
Taylor Progress (big ole wedge)
Fabyan "a real luxury"

and a few other misc. razors in various states of repair/restoration
