    Default Wilkinson Shave Soap

Anyone ever try Wilkinson Shave Soap, it comes in a blue flat round plastic container(love that smell). I swirled my badger in that and then made some Derby Lavender shave cream lather. The 2 work well together but I think I'm
going to try to find a cream with a bit stronger lavender aroma.

I just got a tub a few weeks ago but have only used it once so far. Wasn't bad...it's not Tabac or Pre De Provence but I had a good shave with it.

I got a tub on a recent trip to germany. I've only used it once (I use a dovo shavette) and liked it's lubricating properties, but found it not to soften the beard quite as well as other creams. This was just my first impression, and it may be wrong as the blade wasn't brand new. The scent is nice through, and I'll definitely experiment some more with it.

It seems a bit softer than other soaps, more or less the same consistency as the proraso/omega that comes in a bowl.

This was my first shave soap after using creams exclusively. I thought I would try it out as it was available cheap at a local supermarket. It was very difficult for me to get a decent lather with it - it was only good for one pass and then would disintegrate. Wilkinson really put me off soaps and I continued to use creams with great success.

Since then, I have now become more of a soap lover and use my creams on occasion. I have some fine soaps from Trumpers, Floris, Penhaligons and MWF which all give me great shaves. I tried the Wilkinson again recently, thinking that with my increased soap experience I might be able to get a good lather, but it proved me wrong.

I then considered chucking it in the bin but decided to give it a chance in the shower as a body soap first. I was very surprised. Using my pouf I got a wonderful lather and it was so easy to use. Also, the scent really filled the bathroom and lingered for several hours. The scent not only lingered in the bathroom but also on my skin and I did not use any cologne for fear of clashing. However, after several hours I could still smell it strong on my skin and it became rather nauseating.

Sadly, I think my Wilkinson Blue Bowl is going to end up in the bin someday soon.

i managed to get a decent lather with it, it shaved well, the only problem is that it dries your skin quite a bit, it dosnt seem to have a hydrating component,

its an ok travel soap, cheap and you dont really care if it gets lost or damaged, plus the top cover of the shell makes a decent makeshift lather bowl if you dont lather on face,
