  1. Default Neat shaving brushes.....

    Check these two out...

    ONE

    TWO

In that first one, that mock Ivory handle is AWFUL neat no? They sure don't look like vulfix's, I think maybe they are made by mason pearson. For the money they look awful nice. Anyone have experience with these?

    Joel,
I have been eyeballing those too, (I like no. 2 FWIW) I think its interesting that the seller always positions the brush so you can see "super badger, made in England" or whatever, but never the name of the maker....
    bummer.

    John,
It is a Salter branded brush from what I gather. Salter makes all sorts of razors, strops, brushes, etc - you just don't see them too often.

My trigger finger is itchy.... I keep almost buying one - however I don't think I can - as the Savile Row Tortoise Hog I got a chance to play around with (Nick's) was better than most of my brushes 2-3X the cost.... so if I got one of those, I KNOW it would be an incredible buy - where as this guys brushes are a shot in the dark. If they are Rooney's like some think - that wouldn't impress me much.... I like my simpsons and Shavemacs more than the rooney I have, and I like Vulfix just as much as the Rooney.

Would love to proved wrong on this, but everything else this chap sells is at - or even a little more - than what can be had in the UK either online or via a more traditional route. Which suggests to me its unlikely a real bargain is awaiting those a mouse-click away...

From what I see being posted over at SMF about these, Joel is right that they are C R Salter brushes, and the general conjecture is that the brushes are manufactured by R.A. Rooney; after looking at the Rooneys, I tend to agree.

    Honk,

I was meaning other (not necessarily brush) items - such as the merkur blades and stands (gentleman's shop and executive-shaving being cheaper). Though his ceramic pure badger (http://cgi.ebay.com/Pure-Badger-Cera...QQcmdZViewItem) is three quid cheaper than here http://www.executive-shaving.co.uk/s...ving-brush.php but that wasnt enough to suggest to me a bargain. Still, if the SMF thread is anything to go by, these could be very nice brushes indeed...
