My grandparents live in New Springfield from 1976 to 1980. In my memory, I don't think I have had any better than Handel's.
I can't stand H-D's (hidden) politics, but I liked their ice cream. I love B & J's politics, but thought their ice creams were too junky, filled with hunks of things I'd never otherwise eat, like cookie dough and candy bars.
What to do? And I am a purist of a sort, buying only vanilla or coffee. Ah: Trader Joe's. Very good French vanilla. And an outstanding coffee, with little flecks of coffee beans right in there.

I cannot fund the politics espoused by Ben and jerry's.
I discovered haagen-Das in a California mall, long before Ben and jerry's was known to me.
Ben and Jerry's has too much candy in it.
I don't eat ice cream very often, but when I do it's Blue Bell.
