From what I've gathered, soaps that are made from rendered animal fats, seem to work better and have better moisturizing qualities. I always used creams. Can anyone confirm this or recommend some that are made this way?

The Speick, Erasmic, and Palmolive shave sticks are also tallow based.
Not to hijack your thread but you have some fantastic pictures on your site. It looks like you travel a lot because you have a varied group of photos. Great work!
There are dozens. I suspect the majority of commercial soaps are tallow based. Williams for 97 cents at Walmart is tallow based.

Older DR harris and Penhaligon's soaps (if you can find them), Cella, Mitchell's Woolfat, Arko.
Some veggie soaps, like Trumper, T&H, Lothantique or l'Occitane are very, very close in quality to the tallow-based model.
