  1. Default harder than a copper wire?

I've seen a lot of statements saying that facial hair is harder than a copper wire of the same diameter all over the web. I'm curious to hear where this knowledge came from. Is this a scientifically proven fact, or are people borrowing each others unverified claims? Any ideas?

I can't imagine that claim being substantiatable....I mean, I have thick, coarse hair and wouldn't even try to claim it tougher than copper wire
    (even though it is! )

Hair is extremely thin. The thinnest copper wires I've seen are very brittle and can snap with the slightest force.

I think it was mentioned on the History Channel's history of shaving special.

I've gotten plenty of "hair splinters" on my finger tips from my beard and can attest that it's pretty darn close.

My son watched the whole thing (he's 16). Enjoyed it too. Best of all, he's binned the cartridges and I've set him up with an Omega Pure, D.R. Harris soap, a Fatboy and Red Personnas. Unfortunately his version of an AD is Ask Dad.

    Cheers

I quite liked the video. Though I don't know if it adequately addresses the copper wire issue. If you used the stropping and honing technique displayed, Sweeny Todd would be an improvement!

I think Mantic might have mentioned it in one of his fine videos, too...

I saw that also. It was mentioned on that show.

I've cut copper wire with scissors, and it cuts easily.
