    Default I did it again...Oops

My first straight razor was a walk.

My second shave, this morning, shave was a more, shall we say, educational experiience. I hadn't yet received my strop, but assumed that these surely could not be that much difference one shave to the next. First mistake. Second, after nicking myself once, repeated the stroke expecting a different result. Einsten was correct when he defined insanity as doing something the same way and expecting a different result. Finally, I failed to pay attention to the end of the razor, not realizing that I had cut my left ear until I saw the blood flowing forth.

Fortunately, styptic remedied all things and I lived to laugh about it. What a challenge this is! I can't wait until my strop arrives...but of course I now know I must.

I used to laugh at the very concept of someone cutting their ear while shaving. I thought how the hell do you go that far off track and lose sight of the end. I kept thinking that right up until I clipped my earlobe about a week ago trying to get that last little bit between the jawbone and ear.

I suppose you learn the hard way sometimes.

good luck with your next shave, I think many of us at least I anyhow have learned you can never be over confident with a straight they have a tendency to remind you to pay better attention. I know I went for a few months thought I was doing great moving it around in my hands and face not even thinking about then a major ouch worse then when I started.

I'll be following in your line of blood soon (ish). I already know that I'm unlikely to be smart enough to learn from other people's mistakes and will have to make my own. Thanks for the warning though.

    Cheers

Default Third shave close to bloodless

Number three SR shave this a.m., this time with my new TI Silver Wing. I used it straight out of the box, following the enclosed instruction not to strop the new blade at first. Whew, is it a fine, delicate blade! Not quite as sharp as the one I shaved with fresh from honemeister Lynn Abrams, but pretty darn nice as is. I look forward to honing it and seeing the diff. One tiny neck nick, but otherwise a fairly clean shave.

My face and neck seems to be getting raw-er each time I shave, despite my best efforts at moisturizing--so I need to read up on this aspect of the art. Maybe I just need a rest day. To be continued....

    Rick
