I am new to soaps. What are the 5 must have soaps in your opinion.

No particular order.

1. Cella
2. Arko
3. Sir Irisch Moos (if you can still get one. Discontinued sadly)
4. Mitchell's Wool Fat
5. Mama Bears.

Alright, according to this thread (and my calculations), the top 5 most popular soap BRANDS as voted by B&B members so far are:

1. Tabac
2. Mitchell's Wool Fat

4. DR Harris
5. Arko & Mike's Natural Soaps (tied)

The ones I tried are La Toja, Nivea, Williams Menthol, Weleda, Dr. Selby and Flaño.

No, I won't play, way too much of a personal thing. I, for instance, pretty much hate 9/10 of the aromas out there, so what would my opinions be worth, in the big scheme of things?

However. D. R. Harris soap is a wonderful performer. I've used two RazoRocks that I really like. Cella is amazingly good.

I use lots of creams as well.

Cannot believe MdC gets beaten out by MWF. MWF is boring, it does nothing extremely well, and you have to fight to lather it.

$60 verses $10 for a puck of MWF is maybe one reason why many people don't get the opportunity to try MdC. I am sure a Ferrari Enzo would be in many peoples top 5 drives if they were afforded the opportunity to own one and would value many Premium but lesser cars, Boring!

Tabac and La Toja trade blows tbh, Tabac at 10-15 a puck lasts too long for that not to figure in.

La Toja is the best for your skin, but it is ultimately a soft shave stick.

Update after using them and other soaps:

Arko - top performer, dirt cheap, use as a stick or smash into a bowl
RazoRock - pick a scent, they perform fantastic
VDH Deluxe - cheap, readily available glycerin soap, nice mild scent
Proraso - super easy to lather, great classic scent
Palmolive - again, as a stick or in a bowl, great scent and performance
