Slacklining - Anyone here do it?

You see it up between trees, ours is up to 50', at a safe distance off the ground (18" ) and walk from end to end.

It is incredibly difficult and takes a ton of balance. By the 2nd or 3rd day of using it off and on, I was able to walk from tree to tree in this pic.

As you progress, you can start to add tricks, jumps, dips, kneels etc. Not sure I'll ever get there, bit it kept us entertained on site when we wanted to just hang around and not do much.

It is shown here with a kids, overhead helper line. You sling a small nylon rope over it and they hold it overhead and use it to help balance while they learn as you hold your arms and hands out at 10 & 2.

Woah! I never knew that was a thing! I bet it's great for helping kids (and adults too), strengthen and develop their core muscles, and obviously, balance.

I read something once, a while back, that lamented how children no longer climb trees, roll down hills till their too dizzy to stand, and do all those sorts of childhood-outdoorsy things most of us did as children. The result is a generation of children who lack balance and other physiological advantages obtained by just being a rowdy kid.

I believe it. I did all those things and I have impeccable balance. You won't catch me on a slackline though.
My issue was always coming down from the trees.....

A new pair of Oboz to replace my 5y old TNF hiking boots.

I did quite a bit of research before buying them and after wearing around the house for a bit, I think I made a good choice. Ultra supportive, Wide fit, well constructed and HD grip. They seem to be a good bang for the buck and the MEC member reviews were positive.

Hopefully they serve me well.

So, I finally decided to acquire a Spyerco the other day while wondering around eBay the other day. I've always liked older models of German steel. Boker, Kissing Crane, Hen and Rooster to name a few. Needless to say that it was new territory for myself. Long story somewhat shorter, I ended up getting a Manix 2 XL with a CPM S30V blade. I have to say that I really love this knife!

I finally ordered a new helmet, hopefully I like it. I've never had a road helmet, always MTB with a visor. But since I'm 98% road riding these days, I thought I'd switch it up. A medium and larger were ordered, hopefully both don't end up getting returned to MEC.

Just to follow up with my boots above, they are amazing. I love everything about them and they were a great purchase.
