Best barbers..

I've been watching a bunch of straight razor shave videos on youtube and wanted to share a couple I came across.. both of them appear to be Middle Eastern barbers.. The first one is AMAZINGLY fast, and the second one applies some interesting technique with what looks like floss..

I might have to make a special trip to the ME to get a shave!

^ Here's an interesting turkish shave I found. Its interesting because the barber uses some type of torch which seems to be popular in turkish shaves.

What I can't get over is how fast they clean off the blade with their bare fingers WITHOUT cutting off a finger!

What was that barber applying after the shave? A styptic pencil? reminds me of my first barber straight shave. What a butcher! The next was done by Japanese gal - a luxury shave but not nearly as close as I can get myself.

Amazing videos

That first one was quick, but it looked like he butchered the guy's chin and neck.

The mamma's boy uses a motorized razor, what do you expect? You will notice though that he shut that burn down right away, before the wash.

So anyone know what the string/floss looking thing that the 2nd one uses is for? How does it work?

Apparently it was to get any hairs that were missed, but I don't know how it works.

I beleive he was "threading" his face to get rid of the hairs that the razor missed. They twist the thread and it catches and pulls out the hairs.

Sounds painful, but I assume it's not..

That's the way my grandfather used to take care of the nose, ear hairs by burning them; very effective technique I may add. Marco

Not exactly painful.
Ok its not comfortable, and I shed a tear when I got the floss treatment at a barber in Turkey. Worked a treat on those hard to get hairs though, on the nose and chin.

Must have an interesting group of customers. I note that it caters to Men Women Unisex.

There needs to be a directory to where good "old fashioned" style barbers are in the US.. Is there such a directory? Every time I try google, I wind up with a bunch of supercuts and other wana-be "barber shops"..

Someone should compile a list.

Thank you for posting those videos. After watching that one barber take care of that guy's razor burn with they alum, I decided to give it a try. I've started using it on my entire neck and face and it quells the burn very fast. I don't even worry so much about the burn anymore.
