TTO Lubrication

I've seen several mentions of using mineral oil to lub TTO's. I had a Sheraton and an Aristocrat that were sticky at the top of the opening cycle. I used olive oil on them and they are both now smoooth. Thought I would pass this on.

I use Ballistol to clean, sanitize, and lube my safety razors. It also works great on blades, to prevent corrosion. Been around a long time and it is very safe and effective.

Olive oil will work BUT olive oil will also go rancid. Mineral oil will not go bad/rancid/spoil and hence why it is recommended.

Olive oil will also get gummy and sticky as it ages.

Ballistol is great! Useful for many purposes.

Mineral oil is the way to go.

Absolutely.

In some countries this may be called Liquid Paraffin, or if you can't find either then Baby Oil is the same stuff with added scent.

I started using gun oil... only because I already had it. Shouldn't be a problem with razors.

+1 on gun oil.

I have also used 3-in-1 and had great results. Plus, it gives off a very faint aroma of dad's garage. Which in my book is a good thing.
