    Question Rotbart Mond Extra

I found a nice looking open comb razor on one of the auction sites, called 'Rotbart Mond Extra'. It looks like as if it was a safety razor for wet shavers, but the seller claims it was used for trimming hair.
Does anyone know this brand? Is it really just for hair-trimming, or was it just used by a barber for that purpose? Would it be a good shaver?

Rotbart is a german brand of razorblades. Now owned by P&G. They at least made razors in the old days, if they still do, I don't know.

A barbershop around the corner at work has a display with a heap of old razors. One of them is a rusty Rotbart, approximately half the size of the normal de razor.

Here is a Example of a Old Type style.
Search old threads to Rotbart or Otto Roth or have a look to the Krumholz book page 73. It´s a normal safety razor.

Rotbart belongs to Gillette now, it seems to me that all there is left is a type of Razorblades manufactured by Gillette named "Rotbart extra thin". They come in the same dispenser than Gillette blades, you can see them here:

Rotbart blades used to be a favourite blade of my grandfather.
Rotbart razors from the 1920īs and 1930īs appear quite often on flea markets in my region.

There are actually two types of Rotbart: Extra thin and Extra soft.
    This shop sells both.

Gillette was bought by procter and gamble in 2005 for 57B USD.

    Thanks for the info guys!
I just added some pics so you have an idea. Suppose this one is made out of brass. Do these wear out by time? Are there any significant differences between razors made out of steel and brass or copper?
