What's new

Safety Razor Acquisition Thread.

All in great condition except for the scratch on the top of the case. You guys have any info on date and name? First one in my collection with a stamped diamond logo on the cap but I assume it is very common. Looks recent. 60's?

Yeah, '60s probably. Congrats!

I'd say silver, Juan Manuel.

They did plate some Old Types in nickel but that was in the '20s I believe.

I have a 1917 that WAS nickel, I know for sure because I had [email protected] strip it for me. I sent another razor that I thought was nickel and it wouldn't strip because it was actually silver, and he was using nickel stripper. I thought most of the OLD type ball end razors from '17 to '19 were nickel.

Hey now you don't get to do the Bwaha unless someone asks "What is this?" Specific questionings are excluded and specifically protected from Bwahas as denoted in the forum rules. Geez doesn't anyone read the regs anymore? Sigh.

I don't read no stinking rules!

Probably came in one of these Service Sets

But the same 1917 catalog shows other sets (like the one Juan Manuel posted) that are silver plated

Plus, if he used the baking soda/aluminum method and it actually did something, can't be nickel. :tongue_sm
