That's is cool.

I acquired this razor today. The head says gillette but the handle I don't think belongs with it. Does anyone know what this handle is or even the head of the razor?

Wouldn't the base plate be steel under the black coating?

Could be just the handle. But I'm not sure if all baseplates were steel, I've seen brass ones before.

After selling my President last year I regretted it immediately as it was my favorite razor. After searching for a long time I finally found a Diplomat for a good price on eBay. The gold plating is still in great condition, but I may have it replated in rhodium in a few months. Got this for $52 shipped

$190 and I had paid $80 about 3 weeks prior. Figured I'd fund another one. I had just started to DE shave and didn't know it would be my favorite. Ended up with some LC New and a few techs, but really wanted the diplomat/president back. Just feels better in my hand with weight and general preference.
