Greatest Video Game of All Time

Oomph, I haven't played any games in a while. After reading these awesome posts, may have to break out the systems!!!

In no particular order:

zombies ate my neighbbors (SNES)
megaman X (SNES)
killer instinct (SNES)
Donkey Kong country (SNES)
Metal gear solid 2 sons of liberty (PS2)
Tekken series (PS2-PS3)
Fight Night series (PS2-PS3)

I used to watch my grandfather play that game and A Link to the Past. The guy could barely see but he would beat those games over and over. An absolute favorite!
Awesome, I love hearing about older generations enjoying video games.

Some of my fondest memories are of when I would watch him play, and when he would call me on the phone to ask me how to beat a certain boss/dungeon! As 5 year old boy, that was special.

I used to love ES sports games, specifically ice hockey and madden.

then came online poker...... Ahhhh the good old days

EA sports has really gone down hill lately, they don't have any real competition since they have the rights for the NHL and NFL teams.

In chronological order:

Hunt the Wumpus
Colosal Cave
Zork
StarTrek
Moon Patrol
Spy Hunter
Quick Draw (PINBALL)
Xenon (pinball)
Wizardry
Bard's Tale
nethack/moria
Baldur's Gate

Had a kid and stopped having time to game.

"Now git off my lawn." ;)

Ww

This is not an all encompassing list, I am most likely forgetting some extremely important ones! Here are my top 10 that I can think of now.

1. Earthbound (SNES)
2. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
3. Harvest Moon (Playstation)
4. Final Fantasy Series (Various Systems)
5. Super Mario RPG (SNES)
6. Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)
7. Goldeneye (Nintendo 64)
8. Silent Hill (Playstation)
9. Resident Evil 2 (playstation)
10. Dragon Warrior Monsters (Game Boy Color)
11. Pokémon Red\Blue\Yellow (Came Boy Color)

Played so much games i can't decide which one would be the greatest.

Maybe Doom or Wolfenstein 3D. Ah... good old days.

And Super Mario on GameBoy.

Space invaders (Commodore super pet)
Many text based RPG games (Commodore super pet)
Monkey Island (Tandy)
LHX attack chopper (IBM 386)
Doom, Wolfenstein, Wastelands etc (self built win 95, 486 PC)
Earth 2140, Wargasm, Warcraft, Diablo I and II lod, fallout I, II, Revenant.... etc on various windows machines I built over the years. If I had to choose just ONE it would have to be Wastelands.

Dragon's Lair ( standup game )
Indiana Jones ( standup game )
Super Mario Bros
Karate Champ ( standup game )
Pitfall

It's not the best example of the genre, but it's very playable: Syphon Filter on the PS1.

Other favourites over the years:
Grand Theft Auto series (especially San Andreas)
Gran Turismo
Sid Meier's Pirates series (some were really good, others were washed ashore)
Wild Metal Country (I love a good tank battle)
Sim City series
International Karate and IK+ (C64)
Mission Impossible (C64)
Joust
Airborne Ranger
Double Dragon (damn thing ate my future retirement fund)
Gauntlet
Cabal
Exciting Hour
Time Crisis 2

I saw a few here mention Galaga. That's a really good call. Tough game to master but a thing of beauty. It can possibly still be enjoyed today via MAME ROM.

There may have been countless others...legacy of a misspent youth. My son has a Wii - maybe I'm getting old, but the new games aren't as playable as the old games. That may be changing as the graphics benchmark has been easily re-set, and now the focus on actual gaming may be returning.

On the pinball side:
Star Trek: TNG
Judge Dredd (of course!!!)
The Twilight Zone
Red & Ted's Roadshow
