Vintage Mohawk Shave Soap

Has anybody here used Mohawk Shave Soap before? I picked up a NOS puck yesterday, along with an unused shaving mug and brush. It will be a while before I get to it and I'm wondering how well it performs.

One of my local shops has an interesting faux-Delftware brush by Mohawk: blue and white ceramic. I suspect Mohawk never made their own soap, though: it might be a rebrand made by a different company.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohawk_Brush_Company has a little about the Mohawk company, and google books turns up more. The brush company was active in Albany, NY during the 1920s. By 1953 it was a subsidiary of the Fuller company, and was still an active brand in 1969. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuller_Brush_Company the Mohawk plant actually made many of the Fuller brushes.

Sorry it took so long to get the pictures up.

Here's the soap:

Which came wrapped in the original plastic wrapper with this set:

There are NO markings on the soap, but it looks like the same shape and size as a vintage Colgate or Williams puck. There's also still quite a bit of scent to it. It's sort of a soapy, slightly medicinal scent.

Here are the only markings that are on the set, and a close up of the graphic on the mug.

I'm debating whether I should restore it or not. It looks like it's never been used. I may just use it as is for a while and see how well it works.

Brush looks NOS...I would use it,if there is no shedding you really have a perfect brush !

Ok, I'll try out the knot as is!

Back to the soap...has ANY one here used Mohawk soap before? I was planning to keep this one unused for a few years while I slowly use up my stash of vintage soaps, but I'm dying to know how well it works. I my have to break down and whip up some lather on it after all.
