i have been using a straight for 6-7 yrs. and honed about 400+ razors. the first straight i used i honed. recently i picked up a swede (not my first) for 22 bucks. cleaned her up honed it as i have many before. then i took her for a spin. WOW !! THE PLANETS ALIGNED the moon must have too. the best shave ever and i was not expecting it to be any different than so many before but this little jewel was amazing. it was so far ahead of what i expecting as to leave my other swedes in the dust. far as i can tell i did nothing different than i always do. i almost always use a translucent arki as a finisher and i have tried many different finishers. i just like arki's better but like said i was utterly surprised, enough that i thought i would share.

That's some double rainbow #$%&, right there!! Others not using straights will never have the opportunity... so sad.
The best part about this is I now know that even after 6 - 7 years of straight shaving there will still be write-home-about shaves to be enjoyed. Thanks for the encouragement, from someone just 6 - 7 months in.
i think anytime you get that shave, whether it be 6 mos or 6 years, it's incredible.
